In late June, Glendis "Jenni" Gallardo Mendoza, beloved staff member at Tan Ux'il, a Planned Parenthood partner in Guatemala, was killed by two gang members in an act of random violence.
Sadly, such violence is the norm in the Petén, the rural region where Jenni lived, and where Planned Parenthood supports work providing reproductive health information, services, and supplies to young people in the community in fun and innovative ways.
Jenni was a major part of this important work, producing the acclaimed radio talk show Sex Tips and starting her career as a reproductive health advocate at 16.
